The Rebbe's Message
To open our eyes and greet our righteous redeemer - "The time of your redemption has arrived!"

January 17, 1951 (Yud Shvat)

One year after the passing of the previous Rebbe, the Rebbe delivered the first in a series of discourses (maamer)  known as "Basi LeGani". This Maamar was significant in many ways, but primarily in that it represented the transition of leadership of Chabad-Lubavitch to the Rebbe, as well as outlined the Rebbe's vision to bring the redemption.

In this discourse, the Rebbe made many revolutionary statements, implying unequivocally that this seventh generation (seventh from the first Lubavitcher Rebbe -- the "Alter Rebbe") will be the generation of Geulah (redemption), and that it is the responsibility of all members of the generation to implement this mission.
